Don Gurney studied Architecture at Carleton University in Ottawa Canada, graduating in 1988. For the next 11 years he worked for a planning firm in Vancouver with large developer groups to masterplan the waterfront lands in downtown Vancouver. He also worked on new town and resort planning projects in various countries around the world.
Don Gurney established his own firm, OpenSpace Architecture, in 1998. It is a boutique architectural and interior design practice based on Vancouver’s North Shore, Canada. While OSA specializes in Timber Frame single family and resort residential projects, they also have a broad range of experience in master planning and infrastructure projects. In 2003, they were hired by Intrawest to design four resort homes in Whistler, a ski resort near Vancouver. Since then they have designed approximately 50 exclusive homes worldwide.
