Each May, Mayrit anchors Madrid’s design and architecture calendar. Now in its fourth edition, the independent biennial returns from 20 to 24 May 2026, taking place across a network of institutional and independent venues throughout the Spanish capital.
Over the years, Mayrit has grown beyond a conventional showcase to become a forum for ideas, bringing together exhibitions, talks, performances and workshops that reflect the evolving conversations shaping design and architecture today. By engaging practitioners, researchers and cultural thinkers, the biennial has steadily positioned itself as a space for experimentation and exchange within the broader creative landscape.
The 2026 edition is framed by (Super)Models, a curatorial theme developed by Mohammad Salemy and Eduarda Neves. The framework reflects on how models, traditionally used to interpret complex systems across science, technology and governance, increasingly influence the ways knowledge, narratives and realities are constructed. Through the lenses of design, art and architecture, the biennial examines how these structures are reproduced, questioned and occasionally reimagined, opening new perspectives on how we understand and organise the world.
This edition will also introduce a new visual identity conceived by the biennial’s artistic team Víctor Clemente and Víctor Hans García, developed in collaboration with Archivo Orsini, a research collective whose work spans contemporary art, architecture, philosophy and digital culture.
Together, these ideas and collaborations will shape the fourth edition of Mayrit, positioning Madrid once again as a meeting point for critical design thinking and interdisciplinary exchange.
