The Moving Louvered House by a+t Associates

share article

Situated in an old housing society in Vadodara, the Moving Louvered House by a+t Associates is a bold statement in contemporary architecture that ensures privacy without compromising on open spaces. Exposed concrete and metal are the primary materials that have been used to achieve this design, which is defined by a beautiful play of natural light and shadows caused by the fully automated louvers that can rotate up to 90 degrees.

Apart from the sciagraphic element, the house features a grey colour palette that is complemented by minimalistic white American oak furniture. Bold artwork is another key constituent of the space, the prime example of this being what the architect’s call ‘that red dot’—an abstract installation inspired by nature—on the wall that also features the double height staircase in the heart of the home.

With a terrace featuring artificial grass, a theatre with welcoming recliners and other beautifully curated spaces, The Moving Louvered House truly reflects the modern simplicity, experimentation and attention to detail that one has come to expect from Archis Patel and Tanvi Rajpurohit’s studio.
