Riyaz Tayyibji is the founder and principal architect of Anthill Design, an Ahmedabad-based architecture and design practice. Under his direction, the firm has curated global exhibitions on Ahmedabad’s architecture and urbanity. “The Stepwells of Ahmedabad: A Conversation Between Water and Heritage,” which debuted in 2016 at the Kanoria Centre for Arts and the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, are some of the many. He recently authored a guidebook on Ahmedabad’s architecture and supervised the formulation of NIUA’s heritage restoration plan for the city’s mediaeval walled city after it received recognition by UNESCO. In addition to the practice, Tyabji also lectured at the Faculty of Architecture at CEPT University Ahmedabad and was a visiting faculty member at the École Spéciale in Paris.
