The Vernacular Modern

The Vernacular Modern is shaped by the creative partnership of Abhirup Dutta and Deeptashree Saha, who together articulate a modern Indian design language that is grounded, humane, and quietly assured. Abhirup, an architect and product designer, approaches form through structure, joinery, and production logic, allowing clarity and longevity to define each piece. Deeptashree, an interior designer and stylist, brings emotional depth and material sensitivity, shaping atmospheres where surfaces carry memory, repair, and continuity. At India Design ID 2026, The Vernacular Modern will present a body of work that reflects restraint, honesty, and thoughtful making—proposing a modernity rooted in care, craft, and enduring relevance.
