Dwelling on her art practice of more than 5 decades, ceramic expert Kate Malone shared her passion for three specific areas in ceramics: sculptures, large-scale public artworks, and high-temperature crystalline glaze research. A frequent visitor to India, Malone said she finds inspiration every time she travels and engages with other artists, all of which only add to her versatile skills and unending search for creativity. “Creativity is the seed to all those designs and productions that happen at a huge, international scale. I suppose I am one of those seeds. I’m a ceramic artist, a potter, I work with architects, I work from my small studio, and I make things by hand.” The MBE artist’s lecture demonstrated how no art form can exist in isolation, and that the art, design and architectural community lives under one roof.
