Haiku 2.0 by Sona Reddy Studio is a new Pan-Asian restaurant that pays homage to its predecessor branch (also designed by the studio). Referencing the restrained yet powerful character of the Japanese haiku, or short-form poem, the studio strives to deliver a holistic experience with an understated composition. Haiku’s layout integrates the open kitchen section with the seating area—a conscious design choice that blurs the boundaries between the process of meal preparation and guests—thus giving the whole dining experience an intimate value.

A monochromatic colour scheme across the expanse of the space bathes the walls. The inclusion of natural materials like wood varieties, cane, brickwork, and pinewood open partitions gives the building a lot of character. The spatial construct of the venue was designed with a conscious emphasis on the visual amalgamation of the outdoors and the indoors, accentuated by the greens. The design details at the restaurant are a conglomeration of elements. Oxide-finish walls, Tandoor flooring, custom cane seat backrests, handcrafted wooden bird installations by local artisans, and Japanese windows represent the global-eclectic yet rooted persona of Haiku.
