This Mumbai apartment by We Design Studio is an ideal residence for anyone who truly appreciates the timelessness that can be achieved through a neutral palette with shades of grey, white, and black. The apartment sits on the twenty-first floor of a high-rise residential building in south Mumbai and is oriented to capture a panoramic view of the Mahalaxmi race course and the Arabian Sea beyond to the west and the Mumbai docks to the east. Owing to its orientation, the apartment captures the morning and evening sun brilliantly. Our objective was to create a light, airy, and timeless apartment that added value to the client’s lives through flexible use of space. We limited the material palette to neutral shades of white, grey, and black.

A long, expansive corridor leads to the living-dining space and the two master bedrooms beyond. Large glass doors visually connect the clients’ study and kitchen to the corridor, creating a sense of seamless connectivity. A set of glass sliding doors separates the living area from the guest bedroom and allows for flexible use as a multi-purpose space. Statuario marble has been used on the floor of the apartment as well as the floors and walls of all the bathrooms. The doors and consoles have been made of old recycled Burma teak and finished with a charcoal-linseed oil polish. A set of stained, hand-blown glass Bocci lights hangs over the dining table. The living and study furniture is from Minotti, Italy.
