This year, India Design ID honours a defining era for Indian design. An era where craft and memory flow into innovation, where local traditions converse with global voices, and where design becomes a tapestry of many influences. Amidst these crossings, India Design ID celebrates this new age of Indian design identity—timeless, plural, and unmistakably its own.
As a curatorial lens, Design Syncretism posits design as a site of cultural negotiation and creative adaptation. In an increasingly interconnected world, design no longer exists in isolation. Global influences collide and coalesce, generating hybridity that challenges the purity of tradition and the rigidity of classification, and instead thrives on revival and reinvention. Blending craft with code, folklore with futurism, and artisanal heritage with industrial precision, this year centres design that defies binary categorisations such as art vs. craft, East vs. West, and traditional vs. modern.
Embracing syncretism as both process and philosophy, the fair will explore increasingly porous cultural, material, and aesthetic boundaries. ID Symposium will feature interdisciplinary discourse between Indian and international speakers, fostering collaboration across countries and design practices. ID Exhibit, with its many pavilions, will showcase the juxtaposition of global brands and Indian narratives, while ID Special Projects will create dialogues across time and mediums.
Through this exciting programme of discourse, exhibits, special projects, and experiences, India Design ID marks this confluence rooted in heritage and shaped by global dialogue as a pivotal moment of transformation.
