With over 35 years of experience, Vikas Dilawari is an architect, educator, and advocate for the cultural preservation of India’s urban heritage. Having executed instrumental conservation projects ranging from prime landmarks to unloved buildings of Mumbai, his practice seeks to restore architecture that inspires a spirit of belonging. His degree in conservation from School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi and University of York further led him to serve as the Head of Department in Conservation at KRVIA, Mumbai during its inception. His extensive repertoire includes 19 projects that have been awarded the UNESCO Asia Pacific Awards for Cultural Preservation in Southeast Asia, including the Dr. Bhau Daji Lads Museum and CSMVS Museum in Mumbai. Emphasising the cultural, environmental, and financial benefits to the public, Dilawari writes extensively about conservation nationally and internationally.
