Sunil Sethi is the Founder & MD of Sunil Sethi Design Alliance and Alliance Merchandising Company, and has represented the best lifestyle stores of the world for their buying out of India, for over 30 years. He is the Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). In this role since 2008, he has contributed enormously to the growth of fashion through robust and insightful initiatives. He is also the Advisor at Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC). He is in the Advisory Committee/Board of the National Crafts Museum and Hastkala Academy as well as various fashion & design institutes and universities. In 2005, he was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award by EPCH at the 14th Export Award Function, and in 2006, with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Carpet Export Promotion Council, both sponsored by Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Acknowledging his contribution to the design industry, besides various awards, he has also been bestowed with Honorary Doctorate degrees and Professorship by three prestigious universities of the country.
