Architect Sandeep Bogadhi founded “Earthling Ladakh” in 2016, a design/build studio based in the Nubra Valley. A graduate of SPA New Delhi, Bogadhi pursues every one of his projects in alignment with his core beliefs in respecting local ecology, employing appropriate construction methods, climate-responsive strategies, and analysing critical regional aesthetics. Bogadhi’s practice is based on the premise that every context/project has the potential and material resource to evolve on its own to give itself a regional identity and aesthetic with the power of design and craftsmanship.
Earthling Ladakh’s long list of projects include hospitality, residential, and public buildings. Amongst their notable unbuilt projects are: awareness pavillions built with waste, for Tsang da, Ladakh, steam banks as public spaces for Changspa Tokpo in Leh, dry toilets and public waterless urinals for schools, toilets for the physically challenged and bus stops for Borda, Ledeg, and LDA, an old age home in Leh – to name a few.
