Gunjan Gupta is a pioneer in collectible design in India, having accomplished various international milestones. After completing her master’s degree from London’s Central St. Martin’s College, she founded Studio Wrap in 2006, a luxury interior, furniture, and product design studio focusing on Indian handicrafts. Recognised for her playful approach and blurring of art and design boundaries, her designs have been showcased on global design platforms like Design Miami, Sotheby’s London, Triennale Design Museum in Milan and the Kochi Art and Venice Architecture Biennales. Her works have been institutionally collected by major museums worldwide, including MAD Paris, the Museum of Decorative Arts, M+ plus Museum Hong Kong, and, most recently, the Vitra Design Museum in Germany. A strong advocate of Indian craft on an international level, Gupta has curated Time-less at the Experimental Design Biennale in Lisbon, followed by Vernacular Wonderland, an exhibition of contemporary Indian master craft at the Revelations Craft Biennale at the Grand Palais in Paris. In 2019, she launched IKKIS, a contemporary Indian homeware brand at Maison et Objet in Paris, with an iconic collection of twenty-one objects crafted for 21st-century living.
