Brian Yang is a Singaporean-American architect at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Copenhagen, Denmark. After completing his M.Arch at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Yang worked on and led some of the firm’s most iconic projects, including Copenhill, a waste-to-energy plant in Copenhagen that doubles as a ski slope; the Twist, a contemporary art museum in Oslo that bridges across a river; and LEGO House, the brand’s experience centre in Billurd. With an additional background in energy efficiency research and undergraduate studies in economics, Yang integrates environmental and economic sustainability into all his projects, as witnessed in the development of new skyscrapers in Singapore, Shenzhen, and New York City. By optimising building facades and creating vertical outdoor space, Yang redefines urban environments and advocates for innovation in sustainability as a key design principle.
