SPEAKER AT

Bijoy Ramachandran is a partner at the multidisciplinary Hundredhands Design studio, a Bangalore-based architectural practice. Directed by Sunitha Kondur and Ramachandran, the firm’s work draws on a keen sense of the urban. In their projects, often represented in patiently executed analytical drawings, the architects have redirected their focus on the urban context by returning to the questions of scale, character, spatial and visual impact, and remaking the public domain, all of which are vital to the tempestuous urbanism of Indian cities. Ramachandran currently serves as the Design Chair at the BMS College of Architecture, Bangalore. Hundredhands’ design philosophy places an emphasis on urban context, considering factors like scale, individuality, spatial and visual effect, and the revitalization of public spaces. Hundedhands’ portfolio includes residential, commercial, and hospitality work. He has not only won numerous awards, including the IIA Award for Excellence, but has also been a part of exhibitions that have shaped the design discourse in the country. Apart from architecture, Ramachandran has also produced two films on the celebrated Indian architect Sri B.V. Doshi. Both films have been screened nationally and internationally at colleges and film festivals.
