Atul Kumar founded Art Deco Mumbai, a nonprofit organisation and online repository dedicated to heritage conservation of South Mumbai’s Art Deco precinct that advocated for its nomination to UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. He works actively to sensitise citizens to the built history in Mumbaiāa city featuring the second-largest collection of Art Deco buildings in the world. Passionate about good governance, Kumar is on the Board of Directors of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) and chairs its Preservation Committee. He actively educates about and promotes the Mumbai’s modern heritage through lectures and presentations across Miami, New York, Malaysia, and more. His work has been published in Hindustan Times, Mid-Day, Mumbai Mirror, and The New York Times.
