A fearless colour palette, eye catching patterns and bold silhouttes – New Delhi-based EDIDA Designer of the Year 2011 Raseel Gujral Ansal’s design aesthetic has never involved playing safe.
In the last 30 years she envisioned magnificent interiors for residential, corporate and retail spaces as well as created a vast selection of products including furniture, fabrics, tableware and accessories. Her label Casa Paradox entered the retail scene in the early ‘90s when high-end labels from India were very few. With her second brand, Casa Pop, she experimented with offerings for a younger audience.
In all her ventures, she breaks away from the predictable to present her fresh perspective. On September 22, Raseel celebrated the milestone with her father, contemporary artist Satish Gujral. “He made a 9 ft sculpture to depict my three decades in design that he unveiled at the event as a surprise for me,” exclaims Raseel. When asked the most important lesson in her career, she simply says, “You must challenge what you think you already have. And, the best is always yet to come.”
