Architecture and interior design have the potential to surpass mere brick-and-mortar construction, crafting environments that resonate with personal tastes while celebrating the beauty of nature. Bangalore-based Tall Storeys Collaborative, led by Kiran Nayak and Apoorva Nayak, brings their vision to fruition in this residence on the outskirts of Bangalore that seamlessly blends architectural design with the surrounding landscape. Tailored for a discerning client, this single-level home is designed to offer privacy, serenity, and captivating forest vistas.

So, with this brief in mind, and a focus on blending architectural, interior, and landscape design, the designers prioritised landscape integration while drawing up the layout design. At every design and construction stage, Kiran ensured that the project embodied their philosophy, which revolves around nature, tranquillity, and individual style. This has led to the creation of expansive, well-ventilated, and practical spaces that promote a strong bond with the outdoors throughout the resident’s daily routines.Â

Spanning 75,000 square feet of land with a 6,000-square-foot built-up area, the project’s minimalist style is rooted in a nature-centric approach. The white building facade harmonises with the lush greenery and features ample glass, while wooden ceilings provide contrast, enhancing the sleek lines of the structure. Inside, the space is flooded with natural light and breeze, and the strategic use of natural stone materials like granite and tandur adds depth to the overall building design.

At the core of the residence, the living room forms the focal point where luxury and comfort intertwine. With expansive 13-foot sliding doors, the boundary between indoor and outdoor areas dissolves, creating a tranquil space for reflection and emotional connection with family and friends. It harmoniously connects to the patio, which offers shelter from the outdoor elements while preserving the fluidity between the interiors and exteriors.

The home’s design includes four spacious bedrooms, each extending to its private garden and offering uninterrupted views of the lush, expansive outdoor space, while the furniture features a sleek design and minimalist style. Inside, a long hallway illuminated by semi-circular skylights fills the corridor with natural light. The emphasis remains on creating a low-maintenance home that integrates with the homeowners’s existing antique wooden furniture, guiding the selection of laminates for easy upkeep and veneers to complement their existing pieces.
