Celebrating Excellence in Indian Architecture & Design

Debuted at India Design ID 2019, ID Honours is a prestigious platform that showcases 32 exceptional, boundary-pushing projects and the brilliant architects and designers behind them. Vetted by a distinguished jury, these projects exemplify originality, innovation, and a deep commitment to design excellence.

 


 

Eligibility Criteria

    • Open to architects and interior designers based in India.
    • Submissions must include a portfolio of two residential projects completed within the last 2 years (2023-2025).
    • Projects must be located within India and demonstrate originality, functionality, and consistent design excellence.
    • Established firms and independent practitioners are eligible.
    • For the Emerging Design Firms category, the design practice must be 10 years old or less (as of submission year, 2025).
    • Collaborative projects are accepted, provided all contributors are clearly credited.
    • Multiple entries are allowed only if submitted in different categories.

 

Categories

The ID Honours categories are thoughtfully curated to recognise a wide spectrum of talent across varying scales of practice and stages of professional growth. Each category celebrates excellence, creativity, and innovation, providing an inclusive platform for both established names and emerging voices in Indian design.

Entrants are encouraged to select the category that best represents the scale, experience, and nature of their practice.

    • Residential Architecture

Celebrates outstanding architectural design for private residences, including standalone homes, villas, and housing developments. Entries should demonstrate innovation, contextual sensitivity, and refined spatial planning.
Eligibility: Open to architects and firms with completed residential architecture projects in India between 2023 and 2025.

    • Residential Interiors

Recognises exceptional interior design for private residences. Entries should reflect a strong design narrative, functional planning, material sensitivity, and attention to detail.
Eligibility: Open to architects and designers with completed residential interior projects in India between 2023 and 2025.

    • Vernacular Design

Honours projects rooted in traditional building practices, materials, and regional craftsmanship, adapted thoughtfully for contemporary living.
Eligibility: Open to architects and designers with completed residential projects in India between 2023 and 2025 that draw significantly from vernacular traditions.

    • Conservation Architecture

Celebrates projects that restore, adapt, or preserve heritage structures while maintaining their architectural integrity. Entries should exemplify sensitivity, restraint, and narrative depth in the act of restoration.
Eligibility: Open to architects and conservation specialists with completed residential conservation projects in India between 2023 and 2025.

    • Sustainable Design

Recognises projects that prioritise environmental responsibility through material innovation, energy-efficient systems, passive design strategies, or sustainable construction methods.
Eligibility: Open to architects and designers with completed residential projects in India between 2023 and 2025 that demonstrate measurable or visible sustainable practices.

    • Hospitality Interiors

Celebrates residential-style interiors in hospitality environments such as boutique hotels, homestays, villas, and guesthouses. Entries should reflect a balance of aesthetics, comfort, and guest experience.
Eligibility: Open to architects and interior designers with completed hospitality interior projects in India between 2023 and 2025.

    • Landscape Design

Honours excellence in the design of outdoor spaces, from private gardens to integrated landscapes in residential or hospitality contexts. Entries should demonstrate spatial harmony, ecological sensitivity, and aesthetic finesse.
Eligibility: Open to landscape designers, architects, and firms with completed landscape projects in India between 2023 and 2025.

    • Emerging Design Firms

Recognises young practices shaping the residential design landscape through bold ideas, innovation, and a distinctive design voice.
Eligibility: Open to architecture or design firms established within the last ten years, with completed projects in India between 2023 and 2025.
