Jesmina Zeliang has operated in the crafts sector since 1993. She has been instrumental in pioneering the contemporary language of Naga Textiles. Her handloom brand, Heirloom Naga, has sought worldwide attention for ‘loin-loom weaving’, a process unique to Indigenous communities in India’s Northeast. She has persistently worked towards women’s empowerment by bringing them doorstep employment. Zeliang’s brand, Cane Concept, has also crafted unique products from Northeast India by championing sustainable materials and production practices. She works with over five hundred artisans to sell their merchandise through high-end brands and luxury labels. In keeping with her commitment to preserving cultural traditions, Heirloom Naga Centre was established in 2023. Her role as an artistic entrepreneur has won her several significant recognitions. She is also a COA Member and Convenor, North East, EPCH (Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts) and Co-Chairman, Handicrafts & Carpet Sector Skill Council.
