Salma Samar Damluji is a British-Iraqi architect and founder of Earth Architecture Lab, an architecture and research practice based in London, UK. With architectural degrees from the University of Baghdad, the Architectural Association, and the Royal College of Art in the UK, Salma is a prolific author and educator committed to advocating for environmental consciousness and preserving cultural heritage. She has collaborated extensively with renowned Egyptian architect Hassan Fathy and co-written “Hassan Fathy: Earth & Utopia”, among many other publications. Salma has held prestigious academic positions, notably as Professor of the Binladin Chair at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Focused on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of post-conflict zones in Yemen, Salma co-founded the Daw’an Architecture Foundation, where she completed over twenty projects with international partners. Her numerous accolades, including the Académie d’Architecture Silver Restoration Award and the Silver Middle East Africa Regional Holcim Award, reflect her significant contributions to civic and cultural spaces across the globe.
