Gunjan Gupta is a leading Indian product designer and an established name in the international design world. Her designs have been showcased at leading design fairs like Design Miami, Art Basel, Fuorisalone in Milan and Design Days Dubai, where she has been collected by leading collectors, celebrities, institutional heads and design critics. Blurring the boundaries between art and design, she was invited to exhibit her work at the Triennale Design Museum in Milan and the Kochi Art and Venice Architecture Biennales in 2016. Gupta’s works have been institutionally collected by MAD Paris, Museum of Decorative Arts, M+ plus Museum and most recently by Vitra Design Museum in Germany. A strong advocate of Indian crafts Internationally, she curated Timeless, an exhibition of contemporary Craft and Design at the Experimental Design Biennale in Lisbon in 2009, followed by Vernacular Wonderland, an exhibition of contemporary Indian master craft at the Revelations Craft Biennale at the Grand Palais in Paris. In 2006, she founded Studio Wrap, a New Delhi-based luxury interiors, furniture and product design studio that works with traditional craft communities in India to develop a range of contemporary furniture and accessories. Conceived by the studio is Ikkis, a new design brand launched at Maison et Objet in Paris in 2019 with an iconic collection of 21 objects crafted for 21st-century living from its unlimited series. With Ikkis, Gupta has evolved to include a larger community of makers to develop a global offering of functional objects rooted in distinct Indian rituals and materials. The brand has received critical acclaim and is available at concept stores worldwide.
