Kate Malone MBE is an international stalwart in the fields of ceramics and sculptural arts. Having graduated with an MA in Ceramics at the Royal College of Art in 1986, she went on to pursue her passion for the ceramic field. Malone is renowned for working in three areas with ceramics: sculptures, large-scale public artworks, and high temperature crystalline glaze research. Her artworks are included in more than 40 public institutions across the UK & USA – such as the V&A The Ashmolean, LACMA USA, amongst others. Malone has been a judge on BBC’s “The Great Pottery Throw Down”, and is co-founder of “FiredUp4” – a charity dedicated to making clay art accessible to the youth across the UK. Malone is ambassador to the international pottery association, “London Potters”, and to the The Museum of the Home in London. She has been represented exclusively by Art Dealer Adrian Sassoon for more than 25 years. A monograph on her life, “A Book of Pots”, was published by Bloomsbury Press in 2000. A second monograph is upcoming in 2024 titled, “Force of nature, The Art of Kate Malone”, published by Skira. Malone works from two established studios: a small custom built one in London holding her own research crystalline glaze archive, and a larger working studio in Kent, in the south east of England near the sea. She explores optimism and joy in nature through her ceramic artworks. Today, she stands as one of the most respected and established ceramic artists in the world, as her pieces are richhly glazed reflections of the natural world as well as abstract, geological crystal rock formations, and spherical atoms. This versatility and incredible skill has made her an internationally renowned artist.
