This dynamic workspace, designed by Drawing Hands Studio for Kabadiwalla Connect, showcases a plethora of workstations that encourage collaboration, increase productivity, and facilitate creativity. The workplace as we know it today is the result of explosive creativity stretching the traditional rules of the workplace in the past, where hierarchies, social politics, and a general sense of rigidity prevailed. In today’s world, an office can take on so many different avatars. Writable surfaces, pin-up surfaces, mobile discussion units, and work tables with plug-and-play options are some elements we have included in our design to facilitate ease of work for the team. Our colour palette is a vibrant yellow paired with deep, rich indigo, drawing visitors into the space.
This design for Kabadiwalla Connect, a young, promising waste-management company in Chennai, began with a brief that stated a need to facilitate high levels of productivity in the workplace and accommodate diverse working patterns. Flexible workspaces are the future of offices, promoting productivity and happiness by encouraging the organic exchange of ideas between employees. We had a compact space of 55 sq m to work with and had to accommodate multiple programmes within it. Our brief was to design a space that could serve as a workplace, an art hub, or a stage for performing events, depending on the needs. We chose to custom design the furniture in such a way as to enable the clients to clear the space whenever needed and have an open floor plan such that art shows could also be held with the same set of furniture pieces. Now, the space enables social and collaborative spaces, activities, and individual work.
