Stained glass is having a major Renaissance moment

Centuries-old techniques, using modern palettes and shapes, are colouring objets d’art. Stain on glass have been knows to evoke nostalgia with some of them bringing home the admired art seen  in cathedrals built during the glorious days of the Roman empire, like this limited edition, lacquered metal Credenza Cabinet by Patricia Urquiola and Federico Pepe for Editions Milano. Traditionally seen on window panels and sky lights, designers are pushing stain on glass into new forms, from tables and chairs to even bookshelves that seem less like items of furniture and more like works of art.
