Here’s what to look forward to at Pecha Kucha by Asian Paints

Another arm of India Design ID, Pecha Kucha by Asian Paints will bring together prominent experts and visionaries from various sides of the design spectrum to express their creativity and knowledge in the concise, fast-paced presentation format. Four eminent speakers – Pavitra Rajaram, Shabnam Gupta, Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra and Tania Singh Khosla – will sum up their tryst with colour in their daily lives.

The topic for the evening will be My City in Colour, while the duration will be 6 minutes and 40 seconds. The forced brevity of this format is sure to make the presentation all the more exciting.

Here are some lesser-known facts of the four speakers:

Shabnam Gupta: This Mumbai-based creative is the principal designer and founder of The Orange Lane – a design firm that undertakes interior and architectural projects as consultants and also provides complete turnkey design solutions. She describes design as a way of life and is famed to conjure up visual wonders by personally tailoring, client specific interiors that use bursts of colours, textures and other unique elements within a contemporary design palette. The firm has worked on various projects across the country varying from residential, farmhouses, corporate, bars and restaurants.

Thukral and Tagra:
 Renowned for their exuberant, colourful, yet darkly humorous works, Delhi-based visual artists Jiten Thukral and Sumir Tagra of Thukral and Tagra work collaboratively in a wide variety of media including painting, sculpture, Installation, film and design. The artists are known to blur the lines between fine art and popular culture, product placement and exhibition design, artistic inspiration and media hype. Their works comment on the globalisation of consumer culture and the repercussions of this as it is being experienced in India today. Jiten was born in Punjab and pursued BFA from Chandigarh Art College and MFA from New Delhi College of Art. Sumir was born in New Delhi and pursued attended Shankar’s Academy of Arts, New Delhi, before pursuing BFA from New Delhi College of Art and PG from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.

Tania Singh Khosla: Founder and Design Director of tsk Design, she received a BA in Studio Art from Mount Holyoke College, and an MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University, before establishing the firm in 1997. tsk Design has created exciting brand solutions for some of India’s leading companies across corporate, education and hospitality businesses, while engaging with design for culture and the arts. The Bengaluru based creative’s visual language is essentially hybrid and embraces an Indian aesthetic that is decorative, colourful and tends to be labor intensive. But at the same time is rational, functional and efficient.

Pavitra Rajaram:
 The Creative Head of Pavitra Rajaram Design, she holds a degree in Politics & Art History and has received magna cum laude from Smith College, USA. Her eponymous firm focuses on providing strategic design, consulting, product design in textiles and tableware, global product sourcing, visual merchandising and styling services to premium brands in the lifestyle design space. She also designs home and lifestyle products under her own label and creates bespoke interiors for a private clientele. In 2012, Pavitra held her first solo exhibition of mixed media artworks.
